Though it's already celebrated a 30th anniversary, the comedy classic Animal House still delivers plenty of laughs as it recounts the sophomoric efforts of the ne're-do-well Delta House fraternity to treat college as little more than a wild, crazy time. Remembered perhaps most fondly for John Belushi's corpulent Bluto character as well as Stephen Furst's pathetic "Flounder," the cast is rounded out by some terrific 9then very young) actors including Tom Hulce, Tim Matheson, Peter Reigert and even Kevin Bacon. On the sorority side of things, you'll find some absolutely lovely young actresses on display, including the jaw-droppingly beautiful Mary Louise Weller who owns the single most memorable scene in the movie: Bluto's ladder-to-the-window Peeping Tom session that goes terribly awry. While Weller, Martha Smith, Lisa Bauer and several Unknown Pillow Fighters provide the eye-candy, it's button-cute Karen Allen who steals most viewers hearts, and by only flashing a quick bit of buns! Allen's bright charisma is the same here as it always is, and whether she's fighting off Nazi's with Indiana Jones, zipping across the country with Starman or breaking Boon's heart here in Animal House you're reminded what a shame it is she took so much time off from movies during the 90's.
If you haven't recently revisited Animal House but have it in your collection, blow off the dust, pop it in and let out a few belly laughs courtesy of the movie that influenced everything from Revenge of the Nerds to American Pie.
